Biography:

Daina Deblette Scarola is a contemporary Canadian expressionist oil painter, whose love for nature began its roots in the small northern Ontario town of Kapuskasing. By way of an artistic and supportive family, she had always been encouraged to pursue her dreams. In 1994 Daina went on to study at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) in Halifax, where she developed her skills in photography and drawing. The years following college were spent traveling and photographing her experiences across the Canadian landscape. Daina was ultimately drawn back to Nova Scotia where she reconnected with her artistic spirit. Hence, her passion for oil painting was born. Entirely self-taught, Daina has continued to develop her skills over the past several years through the exploration of her fascination with nature. The relationship between her camera and canvas are prominent as she pursues new subject matter that refines her relationship with the natural landscape.m She happily resides with her family on the scenic Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, where her studio is also located.
